Hi valued carers,

Welcome to the new financial year! We’ve been hard at work crafting a new workplan for the year ahead, focusing on achieving our strategic goals—you know, those ones we’ve been talking about for over a year. The workplan is all about laying the foundation to ensure we make significant strides towards these goals.

A key focus this month has been finalising the details for theMHS 2024 Carer Forum, coming up (very soon) in late August. This event offers a unique opportunity for carers to connect, be active and aware, learn from sector leaders, and help others by sharing their experiences and feedback to inform systemic advocacy (i.e. the 5 Ways to Wellbeing). Tickets are still available, so be sure to secure yours and join us.

In the background, we’ve been working on strengthening our networks with new national mental health lived experience peak bodies. Our discussions have been fruitful, ensuring that ACT carers are well-represented as the national mental health carer lived experience peak begins to take shape.

This month, we also bid a fond farewell to our valued colleague and partner, Jen, from the Mental Health Consumer Network. We extend our heartfelt thanks for her contributions and wish her the very best in her future endeavours.
