Hi valued carers,

Welcome to the new financial year! We’re currently celebrating the fantastic news that Carers ACT will be receiving a funding boost of $825,000, aiding the implementation of the ACT Carers Strategy over the next 4 years. This is a welcome announcement for all of us and we look forward to working together to advance the objective of the strategy.  As icing on the cake, the MHCV contract has also been extended for five more years, giving us more wiggle room to strategise for the long term.

The team has been working hard on all the contract reporting that the end of the financial year requires. This has been a joyful process, as we look back over our last 12 months and see how much we have achieved. MHCV will continue to strive for the best for mental health carers in the upcoming year (and beyond).

As for now, here are some things to keep your eye out for:

  • The Dhulwa Inquiry is now open for you to contribute your issues and concerns. Please send your feedback to mhcarers@carersact.org.au by 12th August. Find out more details below.
  •  The 2022 National Carers Survey closes the end of this month! We would like to appeal to ACT carers to fill out the survey, as this will increase our voice at a national level. The data we receive from this survey will also be useful for service delivery within the ACT.
  • We’ve recently published our 2022 Mental Health Carers Survey Report. MHCV would like to express our gratitude to everyone who responded to our survey. We are currently prioritising the use of your feedback to shape our workplan. Read more about the findings below.

As always, a friendly reminder that your voice is vital to the work we do and if you have anything you wish to share please feel free to contact us via email mhcarers@carersact.org.au.

All the best,

Catherine Joseph and Catherine Vonarx,

The Mental Health Carers Voice Team
