Hi valued carers,

Happy May/belated April newsletter folks! We’ve had to forgo the publication of April’s newsletter due to a small bout of illness and misadventure. Here’s to what hopefully will be a June of fewer hinderances. As usual, April and May were jam-packed with many fun MHCV to-dos, including:

• Hosting and supporting Monash University as they conducted research on the experiences of mental health carers during the COVID-19 pandemic. We received some great feedback about the forum. It was a wonderful opportunity for carers to share their stories and we truly appreciate the time that they took out of their busy schedules for the event. The data collected during the forum will now be used to inform a national level report funded by the National Mental Health Commission. 
• Contributing our expertise to the Proof of Concept for the new Mental Health Short Stay Unit and Head to Health locations.
• Collaborating with the Office of the Chief Psychiatrist in oversight of the Mental Health Act 2015 (ACT). 
• Hosting two information sessions (with lunch) for mental health carers to get their NDIS questions answered by expert LACs from Feros Care.
