Hi valued carers,

Welcome to the July voicemail! We hope you’re all travelling well now that we’ve crossed over the halfway mark. As we mentioned in our last newsletter, EOFY contract reporting time has hit us, and we’re in the process of making a new workplan. We’re looking forward to new workplan that aligns with the needs of mental health carers and Carers ACT.

In addition to our work on the new workplan, MHCV have been actively participating in activities related to the inquiry into unpaid carer recognition. The inquiry is an important opportunity for carers to share their experiences and help change federal legislation so we’re encouraging all carer to put in their own submission. As part of the Carers ACT submission, we’ve attended several Carers ACT groups over the last month, including the Carer Collective. It’s been incredibly valuable to talk to carers and get your views firsthand. These connections are what make our jobs worthwhile.

Alongside all this, we’ve been busy delivering MHJHADS orientation training to new staff, and attending the Canberra DeepEnd General Practice, Australian Medical Association reform workshop, These events have provided us with a great opportunity to network and share our ideas with other professionals in the field. We’ve also begun work on our upcoming strategic plan. We believe that our strategic plan will be the foundation of our advocacy over the next few years, and we’re excited to share it with you once it’s complete. We’ll keep you updated on our progress as we move forward.
