About us

Mental Health Carers Voice is the peak body for mental health carers in the ACT. We are a part of Carers ACT.

Mental Health Carers Voice works closely with carers to help make positive changes to the mental health service system by ensuring that the perspectives, concerns and ideas voiced by mental health carers and their families are heard by decision-makers.

The Mental Health Carers Voice Program is funded by ACT Health Directorate.

Governance

Mental Health Carers Voice is part of Carers ACT and reports to their CEO and board.

Advocacy and Policy Advisory Group (APAG)

Much of our work is guided by the Advocacy and Policy Advisory Group (APAG), a group of mental health carers who draw on their lived experience to inform our work. APAG is responsible for steering the strategic direction of the Mental Health Carers Voice, including ensuring that the staff are delivering upon the strategic plan and that the voice of mental health carers is continuously present within the positions that the program is undertaking.

APAG is informed by our wider membership through undertaking regular surveys for the larger priority needs and through targeted focus groups as well as external literature research.

If you are interested in joining APAG, read this document for more information or contact us for more information.
