MHCV Team Update
Hi valued carers,
May has been an exciting month for us here at MHCV. We are thrilled to announce that we have officially launched our new Strategic Plan for 2024-2027!!! This special day was marked by a gathering at Old Parliament House and officiated by the Honourable Minister for Mental Health, Emma Davidson, and CEO of Carers ACT, Lisa Kelly.
This Strategic Plan is not just a document; it embodies our shared vision and commitment to creating a more inclusive and supportive environment for mental health carers in the ACT. Thank you to all the carers who took part in the consultation for the plan over the last 12 months, including our wonderful Advocacy and Policy Advisory Group (APAG) members. Your input has been invaluable. We also want to thank our sector and Government peers who contributed their feedback to the Plan and joined us for the launch. We’ll be counting on these partnerships to make the changes we’re want to see in the system.

You might notice a change in this newsletter now that the strategic plan has launched. We will be listing our monthly activities and projects in a new section called ‘What we’ve been up to‘. Here you’ll be able to see what we’re doing to progress our strategic priorities and make change for mental health carers. This might mean that our blurbs get a little bit shorter, but do not dismay – our commitment to the fun (and sometimes cringey) little introductions remains strong.
Thank you for joining us on this journey. Your continued support and dedication inspire us to work tirelessly towards “an ACT community that recognises, values, and includes mental health carers.” As always, our voice is vital to the work we do and if you have anything you wish to share please feel free to contact us via email mhcarers@carersact.org.au.
All the best,
Catherine Joseph and Catherine Vonarx,
The Mental Health Carers Voice Team
